Reflection: 13/08/10

Today is Friday the 13 and all is well here at the year 10 Creative Media classroom!!
I have learnt new different techniques of the program Final Cut Pro and how these different techniques are used with helping enhance my edit. I have also found out new discoveries about why my edit has been SO SLOW! But I guess Mr Andrews had mentioned it but now I'm double checking if the problem he had suggested. An exciting experience happened today, well... I'm being dramatic, it wasn't that exciting experience it was just a joy to do it. I guess you want to know what this exciting experience was? Well today one of my team mates showed us her version of the film and it was VERY GOOD!! I was like WOW and man I did mean it! It was better than mine.... and now I have a small idea that I might ask to take but it isn't that big so in away it makes ideas grow and it also makes friendship stronger!!

The different techniques that I have learnt today is adding effects into my edit such as Blurs, Cross Dissolve and Contrast the Brightness. This was really exciting for me to learnt because I have been asking Mr Andrews for his help for a long time, but as you know the class has been very busy and there are a lot of people who need his help so I ask my fellow friends and crew about how to add these techniques in my edit and as graciously they obliged. Katie Manchester helped me with finding out how to do the blurs and adding more effects and Olivia Park showed me how to change the contrast of the background colour. So overall using these different techniques makes my edit much clearer and brighter!!

So the reason why my editing has been so slow is because of my small little hard-drive. Mr Andrews had said that it was it and I did believe him but when I came home today and I put my program on my other big hard-drive and I started using the Final Cut Pro program to start editing I found that the program runs so much faster and clearer than it did with my small little hard-drive. So now I'm running with a fast program and I'm sorting everything out and I'm under control with everything!

The footage that we watched was Olivia Park's version of our film. Her film was very good (I have to say)!! I was very surprised but I was surprised that she made it so good... if that makes sense!! :P
I took some of her ideas (but she doesn't know-I'm going to ask her) but this idea is only small! The editing was very good but I have to say there are some errors that are placed in her edit, like she doesn't have text (which I'm guessing that she's going to add them in later) and I sort of good lost with some of the sequences but eventually I caught up. But if I didn't understand the movie myself than I would defiantly get lost... but yeah. That's her edit and maybe I'll tell her my feedback but I guess the storyline is just like the rest of my crews work...

The best thing about having a great CM class is that I have gotten my friend back and that we are cool with everything! I'm so happy each CM class because soon we will be doing something that I love doing, and that's... Sound in Film! Or Music in Film! I love doing this because in my music class (last term) we did an assignment on composing with film. Which is composing a piece of music to a clip and for our test we had to watch different clips and figure out the different instruments playing, texture and everything relating to the elements of music to how it is represented in each film. So you can say I have a head start but I believe that it's a little different from what I did in music because we actually had to compose our music and for this we will just have to combine different beats and rhythm together and bomb you got your music.
Overall I am happy with the progress that I'm at now and I am nearly finish editing my footage and soon it will be ready to hand in!!
